Turn your phone into a scanner. Easily keep track of receipts, business cards and meeting notes. There are three scan modes: Photo, Document and Whiteboard. Share and save whiteboard notes after meetings. Take a photo of a document and convert into a searchable PDF. Documents can be exported to OneNote, OneDrive, Word, or PowerPoint.

OneNote is a note taking app, which is available for your PC, tablets and phones. Keep your notes in one central location, organized into searchable and shareable notebooks. OneNote automatically synchronizes your notes whenever you’re connected to Microsoft’s cloud-based storage services such as OneDrive and SharePoint. Special note: Office Lens is built into OneNote for iPad. Access the camera from the Insert menu and Office Lens will open. Pictures you take will be added to your note.

Make event planning and opinion gathering from team members an easy task using the new Microsoft Garage app, Tossup. Create a poll question and choose locations for others to vote on. As votes come in, they are tallied. A timer for voting can be added to a poll. Polls can be sent via text message or email to the contacts in your address book. Voters can also suggest different locations. Your event can be added to your calendar.

The NYT Now app is your guide to the news. Get alerts on breaking news from the New York Times. Customize alerts to topics of interest to you including business, politics and sports. Save articles to read later, and you can send articles to your Facebook page. Keep it brief, if you prefer, by using “Morning Briefings,” a tip sheet compiled by Times journalists.

Live streaming apps

Live broadcast video from anywhere. Periscope is a mobile only app, available for iOS and Android. Replays of your live broadcast are available for a 24 hour period. Periscope is owned by Twitter. A broadcast link can be shared to Twitter, where Twitter followers can watch on the Web or in the Periscope app. As a business, use Periscope to show behind the scenes, showcase a product, hold a Q&A, and show video clips from your live events.
